I redesigned the title sequence for the film, The Royal Tenenbaums. The Royal Tenenbaums is a hilarious, touching, and brilliantly stylized study of melancholy and redemption from Wes Anderson. My title sequence is a free-form exploration of vintage magazines created in stop-motion and finished digitally that capture the essence of faded glories and humanness.
The sequence introduces the main cast and credits. I wanted to subtly employ the use of surface qualities in vintage magazines like aging paper, dust, and scratches. The sequence flips through a “magazine spread,” evoking the tone and texture of the setting and characters.
